I offer residencies as an environmental educator and science specialist. My focus areas are on the natural sciences and place-based education, which means, using the local landscape as a jumping off point for learning about larger ecological and social systems. I specialize in cross-curricular connections, weaving science and the environment through disciplines such as the arts and social studies. I also have experience with service learning and can work with teaching staff and students to identify meaningful projects, identify possible community partners, and nurture partnerships.

The educator-in-residence services I offer include (but are not limited to:)

  • Your school garden tural playspace planning, design, and curriculum connections
  • Creating relevant, meaningful “citizen science” and service-learning projects which engage students in real-life research, data collection, and other environmentally-based projects which serve the broader community and connect environmental education with other disciplines
  • Combining art and environment through meaningful experiences including creating science/nature journals, nature poetry, and sculpture using recycled materials
  • Assistance with creating engaging inquiry-based science projects for early childhood and early elementary
  • Using your school grounds as a place for scientific investigations (topics and themes to be determined based upon your need)
  • “Greening” your school: developmentally appropriate curriculum connections around sustainability issues, parent outreach, oversight of sustainability practices

Rates for residencies vary by project and residency duration. Please contact me for more information.
